I paint to share the mood of the landscape I encounter --- the colors, shapes, and atmosphere at a moment in time.  Viewers tell me that my paintings convey a sense of peacefulness, solitude, and contemplation, reminiscent of quiet places they have visited, people they have known, or objects they have treasured. Growing up in rural Connecticut, I began sketching the marshes, woods, fields and streams near my home at an early age.  I went on to study art at Southern Connecticut State University, University of New Mexico, and University of Maryland, and have taken workshops with masters of alla prima plein air and portrait painting in recent years.

I enjoy capturing the different atmospheres and light of the Caribbean, Connecticut River Valley, Rhode Island shore, Lake District in England, and Tuscany. I paint primarily outdoors, working with layers of glazing, sometimes adding finishing touches in the studio, and I also enjoy doing portraits, and painting objects I have collected over the years. 

An Elected Artist Member of the Lyme Art Association, I have participated in several select invitational and numerous juried exhibitions in Connecticut and Rhode Island. My work is represented in Connecticut galleries and on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean. My work was included in the prestigious Catharine Lorillard Wolfe 2008 nationally juried exhibition  at the National Arts Club in New York City.  By invitation one of my landscape paintings done on a palette for The Florence Griswold Museum, Old Lyme, CT is part of its permanent collection displayed annually at holiday time and on their website.

For twenty years, my husband and I divided our time between homes on a lake in East Haddam, Connecticut and a salt marsh in Rhode Island.   We now divide our time between East Haddam and Nevis, a small and beautiful Caribbean island.
